Moringa oil has been part of the cosmetic industry since Egyptian times. The oil from the seeds is called ben oil because of its high content of the saturated fatty acid known as behenic acid. These sebaceous fatty acids play a role in helping to maintain the integrity of the skin barrier and is known to help in the treatment of sensitive skin conditions. Moringa seed oil is non-comedogenic and documented to be a great source of vitamins A, C; and E, Beta-carotene. It is also rich in polyphenolic compounds which are known to have anti-inflammatory and potent anti-oxidant properties and the ability to permeate through the skin barrier and into the epidermis and dermis. Studies have suggested that moringa leaves also contain potent indirect antioxidants which are more effective than antioxidants in the protection against oxidative stress.
